Hi, I'm Chris Devonshire-Ellis and welcome to the Mongolia Expat website. As many of our readers will know I spend a lot of time traveling between China and India for my consulting practice and dealing with various business law, tax and publishing issues, but to escape I always try and spend quality time in Mongolia. The vast emptiness of the country - which is the size of Europe - I find refreshing from the big cities I otherwise frequent. For me, Mongolia provides a balanced approach to a busy professional life - and it's only an hour and a half flight from Beijing to Ulaan Baatar.
On this site you'll find a lot of information, photos, articles and of course all the back issues of the magazine I launched last year. Hopefully it'll inspire you to travel to Mongolia and get an antidote to the stressful executive life many of us lead. During 2007, the site will be considerably expanded and developed, with better looking features, forums, and an easier to navigate look and feel. The 2007 Mongolia Expat Guide to Ulaan Baatar will also be published in early June this year, so we have a lot going on. I hope you enjoy the site, like the magazine and articles, and come to visit. Should you have any comments or questions, please send them to Tuya@mongoliaexpat.com, and if you're planning a trip, please check out our travel partners, Tseren Tours, and their link on the homepage. They're really helpful and will look after you. For China - please check out our China Expat site as well - www.chinaexpat.com. I have more sites for Central Asia planned over the next two years as well.
Please check back again to see what developments we've made in a month or two and as always in Mongolia - "Ayan Zamdaa Sain Yavaarai" - Happy Travelling !
Best wishes
